What is your connection to the spelling community?

I was introduced to the spelling community in 2015 by a family member who spells and immediately became a trained communication and regulation partner (CRP). Beyond that, I am also an educator and published children's book author.

How would you describe your lessons and lesson-writing style?

My lessons are typically on the longer side with topics that range from the true story of Togo, to the history of French Fries, to the history of Bigfoot.

What makes you see a topic and say, "I want to write a lesson about that?"

My lesson topics are subjects of interest, travel destinations, or deep dives into relevant or special interest themes of former and current spellers I work with.

What's your best advice to someone new to spelled communication?

It is okay to feel uncomfortable and awkward at first; just focus on your intent and let the speller drive.

Animals are the original nonspeaking beings. If you could communicate fluently with one species, which would it be and why?

Oh man, do we have to pick just one species?! :) I have to say cats because I currently have two kittens and would do anything to hear their thoughts.
